Lorraine H. Truax, age 100, of Alexandria, formerly of Parkers Prairie/Eagle Bend, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Esther Lutheran Church in Eastern Township with Pastor Rachel Stout officiating. Music is provided by Eric and Karen Amundson. Interment is at Oak Valley Cemetery, Oak Valley Township, rural Hewitt.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Lorraine Harriet was born on September 26, 1921, to A. Herman and Teckla “Nora” (Grahn) Scott at “Dr. Boysen” Hospital in Pelican Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed on December 8, 1935, at Central Swede Grove Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Lorraine attended Country School District 35E through the eighth grade and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1940. She continued her education at Moorhead State College for two years and graduated with her teaching certificate. Lorraine taught country school and elementary grades, but mostly first grade. She was united in marriage to Stanley Truax on July 12, 1949, by Rev. Waldo Eckeberg at Central Church (formerly Central Swede Grove Lutheran Church) in Pelican Rapids. They were blessed with three children, Leroy “Scotty”, Jeannine Kay, and Nila Rae. Lorraine went back to school to finish her Bachelor of Science degree for Kindergarten and Special Education. She loved teaching and over her 38-year teaching career she taught first grade in Parkers Prairie for 15 years, Special Education in Pelican Rapids for three years, and Wadena for 20 years. She retired in 1984. Stanley died in 1988, and Lorraine continued to live at her home near Eagle Bend. In 2016, She moved to Nelson Gables in Alexandria. Lorraine was a member of Esther Lutheran Church and was active in its WELCA and the prayer shawl committee. She enjoyed reading, baking and crocheting prayer shawls for her family and church. Lorraine also enjoyed caring for her flowers, garden, and especially her lawn. Overall, she loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Russell Scott.

Lorraine is survived by her three children, Leroy “Scotty” (Geri) Truax of Eagle Bend, Jeannine (Steve) Borchert and Nila (Doug Forbreged) Roering both of Alexandria; brother, Gordon (Norma) Scott of Pelican Rapids; eight grandchildren, Kelly Borchert, Carrie (Derick) Johnson, Ryan (Amy) Truax, Ricky (Christina) Truax, Spencer Truax, Chris (Aspen Spaulding) Truax, and Kayla (Bryan Durbin) Roering; 11 great-grandchildren, Holden, Hudson, Hattie, Haizel, Mason, Morgan, Greyson, Kyler, Ashton, Aiden, and Ellie; along with many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Lorraine’s family.
