Lorraine C. Shanstrom, age 91, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at St. William's Living Center.

Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the chapel at St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Jon Sorum officiating. Burial will take place at Woodside Cemetery in Wrightstown.

Lorraine Caroline was born March 11, 1919, to Carl O. and Bertha M. (Ricklefs) Amundson in Woodside Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in Woodside. She was united in marriage to Harvey Shanstrom on March 19, 1937, of which three children were born, Donna Mae, Jean and Doug. They farmed in Woodside for many years. Lorraine was a housewife and also worked at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena for several years until retirement. Her husband, Harvey died January 20, 1995. Lorraine was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. She enjoyed baseball and followed the Minnesota Twins on television. Her grandchildren were her joy.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Mae (Marcel) Honigfeld of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Doug (Verna) Shanstrom of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Donna) Amundson of Bertha, Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. She will be sadly missed by them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Jean Kingsley; grandsons, Samuel Kingsley DeWitt and Jim Brauch; brother, Glen Amundson and sister, Alta Fischer.
