Lorraine (Iverson) Hollatz, age 88, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at St. William's Living Center.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in North Effington Township, with Rev. Dane Compton officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Marilyn Sibert and vocalist, Greg Wachter. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lorraine (Iverson) Hollatz was born October 15, 1922, to Iver and Martha (Bunes) Iverson in Elmo Township, Minnesota. She was the youngest of nine children. Lorraine attended District #99 Country School through the 8th grade. Following her education she went to work as a housekeeper in Fergus Falls. During WWII, she moved to Los Angeles, California with a friend to work in a defense plant, riveting on aircraft. She returned to Minnesota and met Melvin Hollatz on February 14, 1947, at a Valentine's Day dance. Lorraine and Melvin were married October 17, 1947, at Jackson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Parkers Prairie and Effington Township area and raised three children. She was a member of Zion - North Effington Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of Zion Ladies Fellowship of which she was president for many years. Lorraine enjoyed being a homemaker and was noted for her wonderful homemade bread, lefsa and other baked treats. A cup of coffee and light lunch always awaited visitors to her home. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and canning. She played cards with family and friends and had the patience to teach her grandchildren to play the games she enjoyed. She moved to Prairie Village Apartments following the death of her husband and lived in McCornell Court Assisted Living before St. William's Living Center.

Lorraine is survived by two sons, Delvyn (Carol) Hollatz and Dean (Carol) Hollatz both of Parkers Prairie; a daughter, Diane (Paul) State of Blaine; a sister, Elma Clausen of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Vass of Alexandria, Jason Hollatz of Dawson, Jake (Brooke) Hollatz of Brenham, Texas and Lee Hollatz of Des Moines, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Vass, Alison and Paige Hollatz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 2005; two brothers and five sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jason Hollatz, Jake Hollatz, Lee Hollatz, Jason Skager, Chad Skager and Terry Iverson.
