Lorene was born on February 8, 1921, to Albert and Myrtle (Stevenson) Boehland in Bertha. Growing up, music was a big part of Lorene and her family’s life.  For several years, Lorene, and her brother, Carrol and sister, Violet played and sang for house parties and dances in the area.  She was united in marriage to Irgon Lenz on February 24, 1941. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Bertha for a short time before moving to a farm northeast of Parkers Prairie.  They were blessed with four children, Tom, Allan, Linda and Bob. Following their retirement from farming in 1968, Irgon and Lorene moved to a hobby farm a few miles away.  They worked in their painting business throughout the community and at Bertha High School together. Lorene was a cook and retired in 1981.  Following her husband’s death, Lorene lived at Prairie Village Apartments in Parkers Prairie for 20 years.  She moved to St. Williams Living Center in November of 2016, where she enjoyed playing Bingo. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, participating in Bible Study groups, LWML, quilters group and the prayer chain. Lorene was also a member of Woodside Homemakers Club and Woodside Garden Club. She volunteered at both Bertha and Parkers Prairie Senior Centers for several years. Lorene loved gardening, crocheting, quilting and embroidering dish towels. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, doing Word Search puzzles, and listening to records. She loved baking and always had cookies on hand when visitors came. Lorene especially loved spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Myrtle Boehland; husband, Irgon in 1996; son, Allan (Karen) Lenz both in 2015; brother, Carrol in 2011.
