Loren “Shorty” Wallace Swenson was born on October 26, 1960, to Clinton and Darlene (Diedrich) Swenson in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was baptized in Las Cruces and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. Shorty attended Parkers Prairie High School before he began farming full time. His entire life, he enjoyed working the family farm as his uncle Dale's hired hand. Shorty was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the National Rifle Association (NRA), and the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF). Hunting was his favorite pastime. Deer, ducks, raccoons, and coyotes. The coon and coyote hounds were some of his best friends, and he gave them colorful names. Peanuts, Sus and Whizzer, just to mention a few. Deer were more than a hobby, he always took a nightly tour around the block to look for them. He handpicked acorns in the fall to feed the deer, and shell corn when the food plots were empty. He was dedicated to tending his many cats (also with colorful names), cutting wood, tending the sweet corn plot - and sharing that corn with neighbors. Shorty enjoyed playing cards and marbles with family and friends. Lastly, he enjoyed the family tradition of making homemade ice cream with the kids at Christmas.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; father, Clinton; brother, Oscar; brother-in-law, Rick Borowicz.; and favorite cousin, David Diedrich.
Shorty is survived by his very special uncle and farming partner, Dale Diedrich; five siblings, Shirley Borowicz, Kim (Jerry) Anderson, Allen Swenson, Bob (Sue) Swenson and Arnold Swenson; nieces and nephews, Sara Borgmann, Adam (Abbey) Borowicz, Nathan (Katie) Borowicz, Randy Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Brittany (Matt) Gappa, Bradley Swenson, Brianna Swenson, and Brenda Bartness; special great-niece and great-nephew, Madelyn and Jackson Gappa; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Brad Swenson, Lee Hollatz, John Johnson, Matt Gappa, Ethan Farley, and Brian Farley.
