Lois-Elaine Ferne Lindberg, age 79, of Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Miltona, passed away March 18, 2017, at Retama Manor in Harlingen.

A graveside service is 4 p.m., Sunday, July 30th, at Spruce Hill Church cemetery, Spruce Hill Township. Full military honors accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard and the Parkers Prairie American Legion Post #219.

She was born June 27, 1937, to Alvin and Viola Eckdahl, in Los Angeles, California. Her youth was spent in California with her parents and a number of foster siblings. Between her graduation from high school in 1955 and marriage in 1962, she served in the US Navy Medical Corps for 5 years.  After marriage, she participated actively in farm life in Nebraska and Minnesota, from driving the combine to performing artificial insemination of the cows. Off-the-farm jobs included welding and insurance sales. For several years John & Lois-Elaine were snowbirds from Minnesota to south Texas, eventually settling into a mobile home at Sun Valley Acres, Harlingen. A lifelong learner, she  achieved her Bachelor's degree later in life, was certified in lay ministry through Wartburg Seminary in Iowa and preached for a time in Texas. Travel was a passion; from trips around the US with her parents as a child and young adult, solo around the South Pacific and Australia in the 1970's, and just going for a drive. Over her lifetime, Lois-Elaine visited all 50 US states and most national parks. Other avocations included: obtaining a pilot's license, playing piano, leather craft, researching ancestry, reading and writing. She carried on correspondence with a number of people across the world. Lois-Elaine Lindberg was an interesting character and will not be forgotten by her family, friends, and acquaintances.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John B Lindberg.

Lois-Elaine is survived by her daughter, Mary (James) Solyntjes of Pennsylvania; son, Mark (Lisa) Lindberg of Texas; and grandchildren, Andrew and Alyssa of Texas.
