Lois E. Johnson

Lois E. Johnson, age 79, of Parkers Prairie, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Alomere Health in Alexandria.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music is provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich. Interment will take place at the Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Monday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Lois Elizabeth was born on January 20, 1940, to Herbert and Violet (Freudenberg) Diedrich in Leaf Valley Township. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in South Effington Township. Lois attended District 53 Country School in Leaf Valley. She was united in marriage to Elmer Johnson on December 29, 1973, in St. Paul. During her life she worked as a Nurses Aid at various nursing homes throughout the Twin Cities and continued to help families when they moved to Parkers Prairie.  Lois also did lawn work throughout Parkers Prairie, cleaned for the Post Office and Sammy’s One Stop and volunteered at the St. Williams Living Center for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Lois enjoyed visiting her friends in the community, playing cards at Prairie Village, loved to go fishing (with her trusty cane pole), and ride bike.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; four brothers, Norman Diedrich, Kenneth Diedrich, Artin Diedrich, and Reuben Diedrich; sister-in-law, Gloria Diedrich; niece, Pam Diedrich; two nephews, Steven Diedrich and Oscar Swenson; and great-nephew, David Diedrich.

Lois is survived by her son, John (Heather) Johnson of Park Rapids; grandson and step-granddaughter, Wyatt Johnson and Kara Yost; six brothers, Oscar Diedrich of Conrad, MT, Daniel (Rose) Diedrich of Garfield, David Diedrich of New Castle, CO, Donald Diedrich of Garfield, Dale Diedrich of Parkers Prairie, and Bert Diedrich of Parkers Prairie; five sisters, Darlene Swenson of Alexandria, Jane Pflugradt of Garfield, Lorraine (Ron) Anderson of Cottage Grove, Delphine (Jim) Farley of Waseca, and Carol (Dean) Hollatz of Parkers Prairie; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
