Lois A. Sjobeck, age 82, of Parkers Prairie, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 20, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Douglas County.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Interment will take place at Esther Lutheran Cemetery, Eastern Township.
The visitation is 5-7 p.m., on Monday, July 28th , at Immanuel Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the service.
Lois Aldonna Sjobeck, born on September 1, 1942, in Parkers Prairie Township to John and Lorna (Brockopp) Kalpin. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Lois graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1960 and pursued her studies at the Professional Business Institute for Dental Assistant the same year. On March 3, 1962, she married Donald “Dick” Sjobeck at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Lois worked for Dr. Steen in Alexandria, and Dr. Farringer in Parkers Prairie, before dedicating her time to the family dairy farm alongside her husband while raising their family.
Lois was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, helped with the prayer chain, co-headed work group and organized and cradle roll. She was also a member of the Birthday Club and Homemakers of Eastern Township. Lois enjoyed making and selling crafts with her husband, reading, and painting. She loved baking and playing cards and games with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Bonita Swanson; and brother Dale Kalpin.
Lois is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald “Dick”; daughter, Debra (Kevin) Ruberg of Two Harbors; son, Bruce (friend Brenda) Sjobeck of Parkers Prairie; sister, Karen Meidl of Savage; five grandchildren, Hope (Patrick) Green, Benjamin (fiancée Victoria) Ruberg, Kayla (Jake) Fiedler, Jakki (Ryan) Elfering, and Janessa (Wyatt) Samuelson; 10 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Tenley Green, Callan, Harper and Hudson Fiedler, Sadie and Walter Samuelson, Oliver Ruberg, Haiden Mulhollam and Tyson Elfering; along with several nieces and nephews.
