Lloyd Albert Heid

Lloyd Albert Heid, age 86, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 20, 2026, at Alomere Health.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Full military honors will be accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, and the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard. Interment will take place at Christ the King Cemetery, Browerville.

The visitation is 4-6 p.m., on Thursday, July 9th, at Lind Family Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Lloyd was born on November 13, 1939, in Browerville, Minnesota, to Albert and Alma Heid, where he was raised and developed a lifelong love of the outdoors and strong family values that guided him throughout his life.

After graduating from high school, Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his service, he was stationed in Philadelphia and aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59) aircraft carrier, where he formed lasting friendships and experiences. Following his military service, he attended school for computer programming.

Lloyd married the love of his life, Alice, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and devotion. They raised their three sons in New Hope, Minnesota, where Lloyd enjoyed a long career with the Robbinsdale Area School District, serving as Director of Technology.

Following his retirement, Lloyd and Alice moved to Alexandria, where they enjoyed their retirement years together until Alice’s passing in 2015.

Lloyd was a proud member of the American Legion and found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting at the family cabin near Browerville. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football, hockey, and baseball, and he spent many years coaching baseball and football for all three of his sons. An experience he deeply cherished. Above all, he treasured time with his family, whether gathered around a holiday table, duck blind, campfire, sporting event or celebrating life’s milestones.

Lloyd is survived by his sons, Michael (Julie), Jason, and Andrew (Stacy); grandchildren Jessica (Alex) Burggraaff, Nicholas (Allie), Matthew, Jacob (Katelyn), Ryan, Gabe, Bailey, Addison, and Jack; and great-grandson Beau Burggraaff.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice; his parents, Albert and Alma Heid; his sisters, Carol Gmyrek and Arlis Codner; and brothers-in-law Richard Gmyrek and James Codner.

Lloyd will be remembered for his quiet strength, devotion to family, love of the outdoors, and steady presence in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished.
