Linda R. Evander, age 83, of Alexandria, died on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Bethany on the Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Church of St. Mary in Alexandria with Rev. Matthew Kuhn presiding. Interment will take place at the Evander Family Cemetery in Eagle Lake Township.
The visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church beginning with a Knights of Columbus Rosary.
Linda Rose was born on May 25, 1940, to Oscar and Theresa (Moreno) Storman in Riverside, California. She was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith and grew up in Baldwin Park where she graduated from high school in 1958. Linda met her future husband, James Evander who was stationed at Camp Pendleton North with the Marines and they married on November 22, 1958, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Baldwin Park. Following their marriage, they continued living in Baldwin Park until moving to Alexandria, Minnesota in the spring of 1969. Linda had the privilege to stay at home to raise her four sons and was not shy about telling folks that she deserved to be sainted for it. She sold Avon products for many years and then started working part-time as a bartender at Arrowood Resort in the 1970’s. Linda continued her education by attending Alex Vo-Tech and received her real estate license and sold real estate in the late1980’s for about a decade. She was an avid tennis player both as singles and in doubles tournaments. She attended and coached Tennis and Life Camp at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter for many years. Linda was a member of Church of St. Mary and volunteered for Birthright for many years. She enjoyed playing tennis as long as she could and fishing in the summers when her mother visited.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Jack Rossiter; infant son, Eric; nieces, Deborah Simpson, and Rachel Storman, and great-grandson, Isaac.
Linda is survived by her husband of 65 years, James; four sons, Eric (Diane) Evander of Carlton, Jeff (Sharon) Evander of St. Joseph, Brent (Paula) Evander of Champlin, and Lance Evander of San Francisco, California; three siblings, Gloria White of Sun City, California, Hector (Judy) Storman of Claremont, California, and Lucy (Sharon) Rossiter of San Diego, California; nine grandchildren, Justin (Kim), Allyson (Matt), Eryn (Nick), Samantha (Alex), Cody (Tayla), Olivia (Chris), Andrew, Ryan, Annamarie, and another on its way; 13 great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Evelyn, Blaise, Uriah, Philomena, Ambrose, Sadie, Calvin, Miranda, Dominic, Liam, Emilia, Leo, and another its way; along with many other relatives.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
