LeRoy Becker, age 73 of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Urbank passed away on Wednesday, July 18 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.
LeRoy Peter Becker was born on December 8, 1938 in Effington Township, Otter Tail County to Theodore and Mary (Hartman) Becker. He grew up on the family farm and learned to appreciate country living. LeRoy would farm in Effington Township, north of Urbank for many years, moving into Alexandria in 1989 and later to the Annex in Parkers Prairie, MN. For the past eleven years he has been a resident at St. Williams Care Center in Parkers Prairie.
LeRoy enjoyed many hobbies, especially doing things outdoors, such as deer and duck hunting, fishing and gardening (while he lived on the farm.) He was an avid Twins baseball fan and liked to go bowling and play cards. A leisurely chicken dinner at Chet's Lakeside also brought a smile to his face. He was a kind and caring brother and uncle who will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Survivors include his siblings, Lucille Knutson of Waukasha, WI, Mary Ann Koep of Vining, Ollie (Betty Eggert) Becker of Alexandria and Philbert (JoAnn) Becker of Tioga, ND; a sister-in-law, Viola Becker of Vining and a brother-in-law, Vernon Stramer of Ashby; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Casper 'Cabbie' Becker and a sister, Janet Stramer.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held for LeRoy on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Sacred Heart Church in Urbank with Fr. LeRoy Scheierl officiating.
Interment is at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Urbank. Pallbearers are Marty, Paul, Russell 'Hoot' and Shawn Becker, Eddie Koep and Mike Stramer.
Arrangements are with the Lind Family Funeral Service of Parkers Prairie and Miltona, MN.
