Leonard "Lenny" Emil Olson

Leonard “Lenny” E. Olson, age 77, of Alexandria, died on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the St. Cloud Veteran’s Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will take place at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria.

Full military honors will be accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, American Legion Post #87, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #936, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter #235, and the Marine Corps League Detachment #1409.

A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Leonard Emil was born on April 23, 1946, to Harry and Sophie (Rusch) Olson in Alexandria. He attended four years of country school and graduated from Jefferson Senior High School. After graduation, Lenny enlisted in the United States Navy and worked on three separate naval ships in the engine room. Following four years of service, he was honorably discharged and returned to Minnesota. He attended and graduated from the machinist program at Granite Falls Technical School. Lenny worked as a machinist at several various jobs before semi-retiring and working at Viking Towers and Pete’s County Market as a light housekeeper. His most cherished job was doing janitorial work at Elden’s Foods where he worked until his health declined in 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lenora, Marge, Alice, BettyAnn, Raymond, and Donald.

Lenny is survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Olson, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers are Greg Berry, Adam Berry, Gwen Berry, Brent Moore, LuAnn Moore, and Zach Ascheman.
