Lennie R. Murray, age 83, of Alexandria passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Nelson Care Center in Alexandria.
A celebration of life gathering will begin at 1 p.m., and conclude at 3 p.m. with military honors accorded by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Lennie Rae was born on June 16, 1942, to Russell and Blanche (Larson) Murray in Hoffman. From a young age, Lennie had a gift for fixing things, earning a well-deserved reputation as a jack of all trades who could repair just about anything others couldn’t. In his free time, Lennie could often be found in his garage, his favorite place to tinker, build, and fix. It was a space that brought him joy. Lennie was united in marriage to Jane Dueker on August 21, 1970, in Sisseton, South Dakota. Together, they made their home in Alexandria, where they raised two daughters. He worked for Charter Communications for 19 years, retiring in 2008. Following retirement, he continued to give back to his community by volunteering at the Joint Replacement Center at Alomere Health Hospital. He truly enjoyed his time there and cherished the many friendships he formed along the way. He was also an active and proud member of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Posse. Lennie was honored to receive his 10-year service pin, something he took great pride in. Above all, Lennie will be remembered for his generous heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Devin Dixon; son-in-law, Benjamin Neal Dixon; brothers, Donnie, Rick, and Ned; and sister Janet Swor.
Lennie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane; two daughters, Kari (Brad) Humphrey and Jodi Murray Dixon; brothers, Barry (Joyce) Murray, Terry (Jean) Murray and Dale (Susie) Murray; sister-in-law, Kathy Murray; many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Nelson Care Center and the team at Vivie Hospice for their compassionate and exceptional care. Your kindness meant so much.
