LeAnn Marie was born on December 7, 1957, at the Madelia Hospital to Loren and Marion Arndt. LeAnn grew up on a farm outside of Hanska, Minnesota. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia where she was baptized, confirmed, and eventually married.
She graduated from Madelia High School in 1976. She furthered her education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, graduating in 1980.
She began her teaching career in Stewart, then continued in Mound, Minnesota, then Moorhead and finally at Minnewaska in Glenwood. After 37 years of teaching, she retired.
LeAnn married Ron Fogelson on June 29, 1985. God blessed them with two children in 1992. Megan was born on June 23rd and Jackie was adopted in July of that same year at the age of five.
Blessings continued throughout her life. Two of the greatest were the birth of her grandchildren, Sonny Loren, and Ronnie Sue. They were her rays of sunshine and her motivation to keep fighting.
LeAnn enjoyed doing God’s work. She taught Sunday School for many years and worked at Vacation Bible School. Her biggest challenge and joy consisted of her involvement with Bread to the Nations, based in Haiti. God directed her through her dear friend, Tammy to travel there three times. Each time was a rewarding adventure!
Her main interests were gardening, boating, and spending time with family and friends. Between their home and cabin, she had 14 gardens. Her favorite was the “rock garden” at the cabin. It was her labor of love!
LeAnn was blessed with family and friends from her early years, to college, to each of her jobs, to Bible Studies and from her church, Alexandria Covenant. It was their prayers and generous help that kept her going. She greatly appreciated and valued each person God placed in her life.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Arndt, grandparents and special cousin, Danny Reckard.
LeAnn is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ron; daughters, Jackie and Megan (Shane); father, Loren Arndt; sister, Kathryn (Everett); mother-in-law, Kay Fogelson; two beautiful grandchildren, Sonny and Ronnie Sue; 10 nieces and nephews, as well as 25 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Urnbearers are Tammy Hagstrom, Meri Ripley, Karen Hurlbut, Jill Jacobson, Julie Barnes, and Pat Haabala.
Memorials to Bread to the Nation are preferred.
As a memorial to LeAnn, please bring a small rock from your home or garden to place around her urn. This will be a way to keep her surrounded by family and friends, forever.
