Larry “Speedy” Norris

July 27, 1959 — September 30, 2025

Alexandria

Larry “Speedy” D. Norris, age 66, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 30, 2025, at Galeon Senior Care Center in Osakis.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Clotho. Following the service, a celebration of life will take place from 1–5 p.m. at the American Legion in Long Prairie.

Larry was born on July 27, 1959, in Browerville, to John and Shirley (Hanson) Norris. He was the eighth of fifteen children and grew up in rural Nelson. Larry attended Alexandria Area Schools and began milking cows full-time as soon as he was able. Milking became his life’s work. He did relief milking throughout the surrounding area for his entire career, living wherever the job took him. Larry was a proud father to Joni, Jo, Larry Jr., and Stephanie. In addition to farming, he also worked for Stearns Rubber for a time, though milking was always his true calling. Well-known in the community, Larry was often seen riding his bike, mowing lawns, snow blowing in the winter, or sharing a beer with friends and family. He enjoyed time with the boys at Eagle Bend Oil, had a lifelong love of John Deere tractors, and especially liked exploring the backroads.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joni; sisters, Kathy and Diane; brother, Ricky Jo; and sisters-in-law, Wanda and Carol.

He is survived by his children, Joe (Tammy) Reinke, Larry Jr. (Chasity Johnson) Norris, and Stephanie (Logan Boecker) Norris; grandchildren, Olivia Hess and a soon-to-arrive grandson; brothers, John (Diane), Harold, Steven, Gary, Roger, and Doug (Camille); sisters, Pam (David) Erickson, Barbara (Gary) Haslip, Beverly (Bruce) Rhode, Sherry (Bob) Ulik, and Cindy Smith; close friends, Carol and Ricky; and the entire staff at Valley View Assisted Living.

The Norris family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Galeon Senior Care Center and Douglas County Hospice for their care and compassion.
