Kimberley Dawn was born on May 11, 1960, to Swede and Janice (Schubert) Floding in Alexandria. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. She grew up with her four siblings on the farm just outside of town. Kim graduated in 1978, from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. Having received all her credits for graduation six months earlier than the rest of her class, she spent the remainder of the year in Arizona. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Larry Kalina on July 7, 1979, at her parent’s farm in Alexandria. Kim worked for Fingerhut before joining her husband’s business, Superior Auto Body in 1983. Kim’s dad had built a shop for the business in Garfield and the couple moved there permanently shortly after. Together they raised three children there. Her passion was her family and making sure they were always taken care of. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, painting, and spending time at their lake cabin. Kim was a constant shining light with her positive attitude, often quoted and writing, “Praise the Lord” and “Life is good, look up”. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by grandparents and her father, Swede Floding.
Kim is survived by her “Lar” of 43 years, Larry; her "girls", Misty Kalina of Fargo, North Dakota, Mikia (Jade) Albrecht of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Nikita (Cody) Kalina of St. Cloud; mother, Janice Floding of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Vaela and Roy Albrecht; siblings, Brad, Carrie, Debbie, and Janel; along with many nieces and nephews.
