Katherine “Katie” E. LaBore, age 51, of Alexandria, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 8, 2021, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2021, at St. Mary of the Lake Church in White Bear Lake. Interment will take place at the church cemetery with full military honors.
Katherine Esther was born on January 15, 1970, to Kenneth and Linda (O’Connell) LaBore in St. Paul. She grew up in Wyoming, Minnesota and graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1988. Following her graduation, Katie enlisted in the United States Navy. She was united in marriage to Richard Forster on June 7, 1989, at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church in Lindstrom. Katie was honorably discharged in 1990. She was blessed with two daughters, Kaila and Emily. She returned to school and completed her Veterinary Technician degree. Together they raised their family in North Branch area, where for 10 years she drove bus for the high school. Katie loved animals, rescuing many from local shelters. She was known for being a good cook and enjoyed crocheting. Katie also enjoyed fishing with her father, sometimes catching more than he did.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; and niece, Emma Cleveland.
Katie is survived by her two daughters, Kaila (Sam Levitus) Forster of Hugo and Emily (Karl) Zabinski of Andover; parents, Kenneth and Linda LaBore of Backus; granddaughter, Gemma Zabinski; sister, Denise (Joel) Cleveland of Lakeville; niece, Rachel Cleveland of Chicago, Illinois; and special friend, Gary Oberg of Alexandria.
