Katherine Ann Quitmeyer, age 74, a summer resident of Lake Miltona, winter resident of Arabella's in Alexandria, and formerly of Brooklyn Center and Saint Michael, died peacefully Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the lake home under the care of Hospice of Douglas County, following a long term neurological disease.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Benjamin Schimm officiating.  Music is provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich and vocalist, Dedra Zwieg.  Private family burial will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Katherine Ann (Larson) Quitmeyer was born September 12, 1941, to Arnold and Laura (Ellis) Larson in Parkers Prairie.  She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith in Alexandria and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie.  She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1959.  Katherine completed the U of M Medical Laboratory Assistant Course in June of 1960, and worked as lab assistant at Lady of Mercy Hospital in Alexandria until 1962.  She was united in marriage to Jack L. Quitmeyer on October 28, 1962, at First Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie.  Following their marriage, they made their home first in Minneapolis then for many years in Brooklyn Center.   Katherine worked as a lab assistant at a private doctor’s office in Minneapolis until 1966.  She was a homemaker while her children were young and in 1977, started work as a Title I Aide in the Osseo School District. Katherine volunteered in her children's school events/activities and also in church events in prior years while she had her health.  She retired in 1990, to be a homemaker to her family and grandkids. One of her favorite things was taking her grandchildren on summer trips and she wished she’d been healthy enough to take her younger ones as well.  In Katherine’s good health years, she enjoyed golf, bowling, sewing, playing cards, traveling, and shopping the new clothing sales.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack; three sons, Scott (Sue) Quitmeyer of Big Lake, Bruce (Lori) Quitmeyer of Austin, and Marc (Jodi) Quitmeyer of Ramsey; five grandchildren, Sadi, Spencer, Tyler, Jacob, and Hadyn; great-granddaughter, Audrey; sister, Judy (Barry) Petro of San Diego, California; brother, Chuck (Cindy) Larson of Brooklyn Park; along with several in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Honorary urnbearers are her grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Douglas County.
