Karl Dean Kehrberg

Karl D. Kehrberg, age 70, beloved husband, father, papaw, grandpa, and friend, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his home in Miltona, Minnesota, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley with Rev. Scott Brown presiding. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.

The visitation will be 4-6 p.m., on Wednesday, November 13th, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Karl was born on April 14, 1954, in Lafayette, Indiana and raised in Otterbein. He had a way of making everyone he met feel like family. Karl’s steady faith was the cornerstone of his life. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his entire family was baptized, seeing it as his most important mission. His faith in Jesus Christ was evident by the way he lived his life.

Karl shared 47 wonderful years with his wife and best friend, Debi. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. From car rides through the countryside to various other adventures, they treasured every moment together, creating heartfelt memories. Their bond was a testament to many of a faithful, committed, and loving marriage.

Karl held great pride in his family. His three children, Erin (Josh) Feiser of Cincinnati, Ohio; Amy (Kevin) Dawson of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; and Erik (Erica) Kehrberg of Dilworth, Minnesota, meant the world to him. His legacy lives on in his nine grandchildren—Katelyn, Emma, Jonathan, and Landon Feiser; Ayden and Isaac Dawson; Hudson, Easton, and Gracie Kehrberg—who knew him as a loving and funny grandparent. Karl shared a deep and cherished bond with his brother Lynn Kehrberg, of Otterbein, Indiana. He was deeply respected and admired by his many brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

As an engineer at Dairy Conveyor Corporation and an Elder at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, his colleagues and community knew him as a person of integrity. He could tackle any challenge with his humor and resilience. His faith, discipline and work ethic can be attributed to his parents, Earl and Norma Kehrberg who preceded him in death.

Karl found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was most at peace fishing on the lake, savoring the stillness of the water and the thrill of a catch. A lifelong Vikings fan, he cheered passionately each season, never letting disappointment shake his loyalty. Karl loved the thrill of a casino game and the quiet focus of a chess match, both giving him a chance to strategize and unwind. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Karl’s sense of humor was often the anchor of family gatherings, a presence that will be deeply missed. He had a way of turning strangers into friends, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had the gift of conversation, listening (if you could get a word in) and of sharing wisdom when it was needed most.

There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.

Pallbearers are Josh Feiser, Kevin Dawson, Jonathan Feiser, Landon Feiser, Gabe Musk, and Doug Schultz. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
