Karen F. Oberg, age 76, of Alexandria, passed into the presence of Jesus on Friday, August 7, 2026.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment will take place at Geneva Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m, with a time of sharing stories at 6 p.m., and conclude at 7 p.m., Friday, September 11th, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service.

Karen Faye Oberg was born on May 10, 1950, to Howard and Rachel (Shipman) Fremling in Brainerd. She graduated from Alexandria Jefferson High School in 1968 and later from Alexandria Technical School with a degree in accounting.

She met the love of her life, Dalles Ludvig Oberg, while waitressing at the Country Kitchen in Alexandria. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1970 and shared 39 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009.

Karen’s greatest joy came from her family and her faith. She placed her trust in Jesus on October 19, 1990, at a TEC (Together Encountering Christ) retreat – a moment she cherished and often recalled. She looked forward with hope to being reunited with Dalles in heaven. A devoted member of Lake Community Church for years, Karen poured her heart into missions, especially trips to Ensenada, Mexico to help build homes for those in need. She was also passionate about pro-life causes and was actively involved in Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life. Known for her generous spirit, she was always ready to help anyone in need. She lived her life exemplifying the love of Jesus.

Karen built a long and steady career as a bookkeeper. She began at Valley Distributing in Arizona, but after missing her family, she returned to Minnesota. She then worked at Howie’s Oil Inc. in Alexandria for 29 years, followed by 18 years at Alex RV. She also worked at Koep’s Corner in Alexandria until her retirement.

Outside of work and ministry, Karen enjoyed time spent with Dalles and family. She enjoyed dirt track racing, roller coasters, camping, puzzles, riding four-wheelers, jet skiing on her Sea-Doo. She cherished time with her grandchildren reading books to them, visiting and playing board games. She was there for all the milestones. She especially treasured trips to Mexico with Dalles and family, where she delighted in snorkeling and scuba diving. She also had an affinity for fudge and all things chocolate.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Rochelle Lindberg (Aaron) and Kristina Oberg; grandchildren, Adam Zuniga (Yonathan), Caleb Oberg (Anastasia), Austin Lindberg (Amy), Grace Sauer (Dominic), Gavin Lindberg, and Lillian Lindberg; great-grandchildren, Everett, Jude, Lyla and Wren; sisters, Becky Whiting (Scott) and Brenda Fischer; and brother, David Fremling (Cindy).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dalles Ludvig Oberg; parents, Rachel and Howard Fremling; and parents-in-law, Lillian and Alex Oberg.

Karen’s life was marked by deep love for her family, steadfast faith, and a heart that always reached out to others. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
