Juliana M. Pomeranz

Juliana M. Pomeranz, age 91, of Alexandria, formerly of Garfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Nelson Care Center in Alexandria under the care of Hospice of Douglas County.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon with Fr. Jeremy Theis officiating. Music is provided by Paul Malecha. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Juliana Margaret was born on February 4, 1935, to Frank and Eva (Thoennes) Daas at home in Douglas County. She was baptized at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Millerville and later confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. Juliana graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1953 and was united in marriage to Elroy Wibstad in February of 1955. Together they were blessed with six children. Juliana was known for keeping busy and took pride in her work throughout her life. She worked as a store clerk at Schelin’s Grocery and Severson’s Variety Store for 27 years. She later worked as a teacher’s aide in Brandon, took photographs for the Brandon newspaper, and cooked at Ray Elmer’s Café in Evansville until her retirement. Alongside her work, she enjoyed gardening and canning. Juliana was united in marriage to Duwaine Pomeranz on November 20, 1993, in Brandon. The couple made their home in Garfield and shared 22 years of marriage before Duwaine’s passing in 2015. Juliana enjoyed dancing, fishing, completing word searches, and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Lynnette; grandson Chad Eddy; brothers, Leander (Anna) Daas, Cyril Daas, and Kedrick (Lee) Daas; sister, Imogene (Joe) Niemiec; son-in-law Kevin Eddy; granddaughter Jeannie Steidl; brothers-in-law Louie Buerman and Jerome Klimek; and sister-in-law Barb Daas.

Juliana is survived by her children, Michael (ReNae) Wibstad of Annandale, Janell Eddy of Garfield, Brian Wibstad of Alexandria, Keith Wibstad of Maple Lake, and Tim (Karen) Wibstad of Brandon; grandchildren, Ethan (Hannah) Wibstad, Tyler Wibstad, Cole Eddy, Carley (Aaron) Noetzelman, Erika Wibstad, Cemantha Wibstad, Kaitlyn Wibstad, Devin (Kali) Wibstad, Darrin (Kendra) Wibstad, Carrie Rezack, Josh Stewart, and Jeremy Stewart; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Lane, Jayden, Mason, Sawyer, Crew, Justice, Tayler, Skyler, Lusi, Bentley, Emery, Scarlett, Zach, Rory, and Raya; siblings, Allen (Susan) Daas, Patrick Daas, Delleen Klimek, Madonna (Louie) Witt, and Bernadette Buerman; sister-in-law Bernice Daas; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pallbearers are Erika Wibstad, Cemantha Wibstad, Ethan Wibstad, Tyler Wibstad, Devin Wibstad, Darrin Wibstad, Cole Eddy, and Justice Perez. Honorary pallbearers are her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County.
