Jonathon William McKay was born on December 25, 1973, to Chuck and Alayne (Pearson) McKay in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Due to his father’s involvement in selling radio stations, the family moved frequently throughout the United States. Jon graduated from Irmo High School in Irmo, South Carolina, in 1992. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for a short time. After his discharge, he worked at Columbia Auto Parts in South Carolina before relocating to Alexandria in 2001. Jon continued working in the auto parts industry before spending most of his career as an Op-Tech at SunOpta. He also worked part-time at Walmart. Jon enjoyed working on cars, gaming, and collecting Fortnite trading cards. He especially enjoyed traveling on cruise ships. A hands-on guy, he had a knack for fixing just about anything. Most important of all, Jon loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Audrey Pearson; and paternal grandfather, Kenneth Anderson.

Jon is survived by his three sons, Zachary (Lindsey) McKay of Alexandria, Anthony (Desteny) McKay of San Diego, California, and Nicholas McKay of Alexandria; daughter, Madison (Niles) McKay-Caron of Alexandria; father, Chuck (Allyson) McKay of Noblesville, Indiana; mother, Alayne (Rob McClure) McKay of Pace, Florida; two brothers, Chad (Christine) McKay of Red Bank, South Carolina and Ken (Jessie) McKay of Pace, Florida; sister, Joyelle (Scott) Threinen of Garfield; three grandchildren, Ava, Delilah, and William; paternal grandmother, Gida Anderson of Williston, North Dakota; significant other, Janel Deel of Alexandria; former wife, Crystal (Jimmy) Vinson of Alexandria; along with several nieces, nephews, and close cousins.
