Jon Bertrum Englund was born on September 17, 1969, to Bertrum and Sherilynn (Jenks) Englund in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed at Alexandria Covenant Church. Jon attended school in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1988. He continued his education at Alexandria Technical College, where he earned an associate’s degree in Diesel Mechanics. On December 1, 1990, Jon was united in marriage to Kelli Schwarz at his home church. Early in his career, Jon worked for various construction companies and put his diesel mechanic training to use. In 2004, he started his own business, Jon Englund Construction. That same year, he and Kelli purchased the family farm, becoming the fifth generation to carry on the Englund legacy. Alongside his career, Jon spent the last 13 years pursuing his passion as a professional bass fisherman. His journey began as a co-angler and, with persistence and skill, he ultimately achieved his goal of fishing on the professional scene. Jon loved the outdoors and enjoyed dirt biking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and UTV riding. He had a knack for fixing just about anything, both at work and at home, and was always willing to lend a hand to others. He will be remembered for his playful sense of humor—especially with his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Scott and Lorraine Jenks and Harlan and Bernice Englund; brother, Daniel Englund; and mother-in-law, Terry Schwarz.
Jon is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kelli Englund of Farwell; parents, Bert and Sherilynn Englund of Farwell; father-in-law, Lloyd (Marge Christensen) Schwarz of Hackensack; brother, David (Sara) Englund of Farwell; and sister, Janell Bullard of Spicer; brother-in-law, Scott Schwarz of Starbuck; sister-in-law, Tania of Australia; nieces and nephews, Jack, Lauren, Drew, Catherine, Joshua, Abbigail, Abraham, Wyatt and Avalynn; and many friends and colleagues.
Serving as casket bearers will be Vern Engstrom, Steve Thoen, Ben Doege, Kyle Wicklund, Colton Anderson, and Drew Englund.
