They moved to Miltona in 1969, where they raised their family. John was a 4-H Leader for 25 years, enjoyed playing Santa Claus, was Justice of the Peace, and an excellent welder. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served on the council. He was very involved in the Spruce Hill Heritage Festival and Spruce Hill Cemetery Board for over 20 years. He was also active in the Jaycees in Rose City. Following his retirement from farming, John and his wife traveled for ten years and settled in Harlingen. Due to health issues, John moved into the Veranda Nursing Home in 2010. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
