Joan C. Sandberg

Joan “Jo” C. Sandberg, age 93, of Fergus Falls, formerly Alexandria, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Jerry Lanes officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Joan Charlotte was born on October 6, 1930, to Effner and Delores (Trapp) Miller in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Milbank High School. Jo was united in marriage to Elmer Sandberg on June 20, 1950, in Milbank, South Dakota. Their union was blessed with four children, to whom Jo devoted her early years, embracing the role of a stay-at-home mother with grace and dedication. As her children grew older, Joan ventured into the workforce. She held several jobs including: selling Avon Products, receptionist at a local dental office, hostess at Holiday Inn, and Office Manager at Luther Crest Bible Camp. Beyond her professional endeavors, Jo was a devoted member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and playing bridge. Most of all, Jo loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

Joan is survived by her four daughters, Barbara (Tom) Welle of Fergus Falls, Susan (Steve) Crichton of Maple Grove, Jill (Charlie) Diebel of Little Falls, Rebecca (Jeff) Nodsle of Corona, South Dakota; sister, Jacqueline (Richard) Tupper of Rapid City, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren, Chad (Kristine), Chris (Chantelle), Nicole, Allyson (Jason), Angela (Ryan), Chase (Ashley), Ben (Liz), Reid (Desi), April, and Russ (Morgan); 17 great-grandchildren, Lexi, Levi, Hunter, Austin, Lily, Evy, Isaac, Emma, Justin,  Lincoln, Luci, Bailey, Brenna, Lily, Mila, James, Millie, and one on the way; along with many nieces and nephews.

Urnbearers are four of her grandchildren, Chad, Nicole, Chase, and April.
