Jerry Math Altman

Jerry M. Altman, age 64, of Parkers Prairie died tragically on Saturday, August 26, 2023, due to an accident at his farm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at St. William's Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie with Fr. Jeremy Theis officiating. Music is provided by Paul Malecha. Interment is at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., with parish prayers at 5 p.m., Tuesday at St. William's Catholic Church.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at St. William's Catholic Cemetery.

Jerry Math was born on April 25, 1959, to Ambrose and Selma (Behnke) Altman in Parkers Prairie. He was baptized and confirmed at St. William's Catholic Church. Jerry attended Parkers Prairie Public Schools and celebrated with the class of 1977. He grew up on the Altman family farm where he farmed with his parents and continued farming following his education. Jerry was united in marriage to Leicia Halstead on August 25, 1984, at Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Following their marriage, they continued farming together and raised their two children on the farm. He was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church. Jerry enjoyed watching NASCAR, was especially fond of ice fishing, and watching old western movies but his true love was farming and family. He loved to talk about farming, tell stories about farming, think about farming and the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Bruce Halstead.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Leicia; son, Jamie Altman of Chaska; daughter, Julianne Altman of Shenzhen, China; sister, Joyce (Vic) Benzinger of Parkers Prairie; three nieces, Kayla Benzinger, Jenna Benzinger and Alayna (Justin) Thoennes; four great-nephews, Boston, Rafi, Jayden, and Parker; great-niece, Lucina; and mother-in-law, Judy Halstead of Elk River.

Urnbearers are Jamie Altman, Julianne Altman, Kayla Benzinger, Jenna Benzinger, and Alayna Thoennes.
