Jenny Placeres Bjerkevedt

Jenny (Placeres) Bjerketvedt, age 79, of St. Paul, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Jenny was affectionately known as “Grandma” to generations of children and families throughout her community.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

There will be a visitation from 1-2 p.m., on Wednesday, October 7th at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie. Interment will take place at 2:15 p.m., St. William’s Catholic Cemetery, Parkers Prairie.

Jenny was born on August 28, 1947, in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. On August 2, 1975, she married Robert Charles “Bob” Bjerketvedt in Stillwater, Minnesota. Together, they made their home in St. Paul, where they raised their family.

For almost 40 years, Jenny devoted herself to caring for children as a daycare provider. She cared for multiple generations within the same families, building relationships that lasted a lifetime. Her love extended well beyond her own family, and she became a mother and grandmother to many in the community. To the children she helped raise and the families whose lives she touched, she would always be Grandma.

Jenny’s home was a place of warmth, generosity, and good food. Her door was open to anyone who needed a meal, and there was always room for another person at her table. She was known for her cooking, especially her Puerto Rican rice, which became a favorite among family and friends. Sharing food was one of the many ways she showed her love.

Lively and energetic, Jenny loved being with people. She enjoyed her trips to the casino, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Above all, she treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Bjerketvedt; parents, Monserrate Placeres Carrion and Zoila Rivera Cruz; and other loved ones.

She leaves behind a loving family of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended relatives, along with dear friends and generations of families who will always consider her one of their own.

Her memory will live on around family tables, in the lives of the children she helped raise, and in the hearts of the many people who lovingly called her Grandma.
