Jeff M. Hvezda, age 61, of Alexandria, died at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. PJ Malin officiating. Interment will be held at Lake Mary Cemetery, Lake Mary Township.
The visitation is 4-7 p.m., Sunday, December 29th, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jeffrey Marlan was born on October 25, 1963, to Marlan “Tom” and Mavis (Kalina) Hvezda in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Nepomuk Church, Lowry. Jeff grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1982. He attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota on a football scholarship. Following his education, he returned to Alexandria and farmed. He was united in marriage Robyn Mulholland on August 6, 1983, at St. John Nepomuk Church, to this union a daughter, Amanda was born. Jeff continued farming and was united in marriage to Michele “Shelly” Pehan on August 28, 1989, in Sisseton, South Dakota, where he became a dad to his stepdaughter, Danielle, and later, children, Jeffrey, Amber, and Dylan were born. He continued farming, then began working with his brother, Scott in the plumbing business. Jeff also built bridges with Prahm in Slayton, worked at Walmart, and drove gravel truck with Back Country Dirt Works in Alexandria. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Alexandria and the Forada Fire Department for 10 years. One of Jeff’s favorite events was his annual high school football reunion with his former teammates and friends. He loved tending to his fern peonies and being a proud 'Dancing Dad' for Dancing Off Broadway. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom; and father-in-law, David Pehan.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shelly; three daughters, Amanda (Jason) Grzych of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Danielle (Kyle) Thompson, and Amber Hvezda both of Alexandria; two sons, J.T. Hvezda of Alexandria and Dylan (Johanna) Hvezda of Elrosa; mother, Mavis Hvezda of Glenwood; sister, Jennifer Hvezda of St. Francis; two brothers, Scott (Danna) Hvezda and Bob (Carrie) Hvezda both of Alexandria; mother-in-law, Mary Pehan of Glenwood; 14 grandchildren, Shelby, Damian, Wyatt, Shayne, OzzaLynn, Brayden, Langston, Amdyn, Kestyn, Elaina, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Josephine, and William; along with endless nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are J.T. Hvezda, Dylan Hvezda, Scott Hvezda, Bob Hvezda, Steve Zahradnik, Lane Noetzelman, Ashton Lay, Mark Kalina, Kyle Thompson, and Jason Grzych.
