Jean Margaret was born the older of a “surprise” set of identical twins with sister, Jane on March 28, 1945, to Nicholas and Marie (Sauer) Dueker in Alexandria. She was raised with her five siblings on a farm near West Union. Jean attended School District 114 until eighth grade, ninth and tenth grade at St. Francis Catholic School in Little Falls and graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Otte, Jr. on May 1, 1965, at St. Alexius Church in West Union. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm near Sauk Centre (now known to many as Tutti Fruitti Market Farm). Jean worked at Northwestern Bell as an operator in Sauk Centre until the office closed. She then worked for the Sauk Centre Police Department as a dispatcher. In 1989, they made their home in a travel trailer that allowed them to travel for Dick’s work. They settled in Alexandria in 1992, and for many years, the couple traveled to Texas and Florida for the winter months. Following Dick’s passing in 2021, Jean made her home at Arabella in Alexandria where she met many friends and companions. She was a member of Sauk Centre Legion Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed crocheting, diamond art, sewing, reading, completing puzzles, and coffee time. Overall, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick in 2021; brothers, Denis Dueker and Jim Dueker; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Nick Thieschafer; sister-in-law, Jan Otte; and brother-in-law, Lennie Murray.

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Donna (Dick) Carlson of Alexandria and Suzanne (Darwin) Hart of Parkers Prairie; grandchildren, Stephanie Lynch of Monticello and Jim Carlson of Alexandria; great-grandson, Matthew; sisters, Jane Murray and Dorene (Mike) Merten; sister-in-law, Kathy Dueker; brothers-in-law, Bob Otte and Jim Otte; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Evansville Care Center and Knute Nelson Hospice for the love and care they provided to Jean.
