Janet L. Bohnen, age 78, of Alexandria, died on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of Douglas County.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. P.J. Malin presiding. Music is provided by organist, Randy Morken, and vocalist, Sue Edwards. Interment will take place at Kinkead Cemetery.
A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service Thursday, at the church.
Janet Louise was born on March 25, 1945, to Julius and Alice (Lorenzson) Johnson in Duluth. She grew up in Duluth where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth. Janet was united in marriage to Lyle Bohnen on April 15, 1967, in Duluth. Following their marriage, they moved to Reno, Nevada where her husband was an instructor at the Agricultural Aviation Academy for several years. They returned to Minneapolis where Janet worked at the V.A. Hospital. In the early 1970’s, Jan and Lyle moved to Alexandria where she worked at Douglas County Hospital and Alexandria Radiology until retirement. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Lions Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed quilting, hostas, and her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Harvey Johnson.
Janet is survived by her husband Lyle, married 56 years; daughter, Kristin (Trevis) Anderson of Sartell; son, David (Jennifer) Bohnen of Vienna, Virginia; sister-in-law, Bonnie Johnson of Duluth; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Makayla, and Colby.
