She was baptized June 19, 1977, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alexandria and confirmed April 21, 1991, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley. She grew up on Lake Miltona and graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1995. Following her education, Jan moved to Fargo where she worked at the Barnstormer Bar in the Fargo Airport until 1999. Jannie truly enjoyed making people smile and laugh, especially through her facebook posts.
