James G. Suchy, age 90, of Vining, died Saturday, July 17, 2021, at St. William’s Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Music is provided the church choir. Interment is at the church cemetery. Full military honors are accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard and the Inspiration Peak American Legion Post #527.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The visitation will conclude with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service.
James George was born on February 22, 1931, to Frank and Gertrude (Koep) Suchy in Effington Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. James attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1949. Following his education, he was drafted into the United States Army. James returned to the family farm after he was honorably discharged. He continued farming until his retirement. James remained living and staying involved on the farm until his death. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. James enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed following all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Joseph, Bernard, and Dennis; and sisters, Marie, Dorothy, and Leona.
James is survived by his sister, Geneva Johnson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Benji Suchy, Glen Suchy, Mark Suchy, Mike Suchy, Duane Suchy, and Pat Suchy.
