James Anderson

James E. Anderson, age 74, of Alexandria, formerly of Crystal, died on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.

James Emil was born on August 26, 1944, to Laurence and Edna (Werling) Anderson at home in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. James attended Public School in Alexandria and graduated from Jefferson High School. Following high school, he worked for a hamburger stand at various fairs around the area. James attended Minnesota School of Business for a short time. While living in Crystal, he started his career at Red Owl before moving to Minnegasco, also known as CenterPoint Energy, in Minneapolis. James worked as a computer programmer and wiring operator for the company, this is back when computers were the same size as the room. He became limited in work when his diabetes disabled him. This lead him to move to Alexandria in 2005, which allowed him to be close to family. He enjoyed repairing old cars, riding motorcycle, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Laurence Anderson and Carl Anderson.

James is survived by his sister, Ruth Steidl of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Kathleen Anderson of Alexandria; four nephews, Brian (LuAnn) Steidl of Duluth, Bruce (Barbara) Steidl of Alexandria, Steven (Gwen) Anderson of Sartell and Scott (Reggie) Anderson of Coon Rapids; niece, Toni (Guy) Ferger; and three cousins, June Healy, Allan Werling and Emily Berich.
