Ina E. Stewart, age 77, a resident of Bethany Community Homes, Alexandria, MN, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Douglas County Hospital, Alexandria, MN.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Andrewina (Ina) Elliott McGeechan was born on April 6, 1934, to Laurence and Agnes (Elliott) McGeechan in Glasglow, Scotland where she grew up and completed her secondary school. At age 22, Ina immigrated to the United States and worked in California as a nanny. She married Richard Rodenborn, Jr. and continued to live in California until moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she attended cosmetology school and worked with her husband as a beautician and salon manager. In 1975 Ina moved back to California and married Floyd Stewart. While in California she received a degree in food service management and worked in that industry both in California and in Minnesota. She moved back to the Twin Cities area in 1985 and moved to Parkers Prairie in 2001. Ina enjoyed reading, traveling and ballroom dancing particularly to the big band sounds of her youth. One of her favorite activities was talking to others and sharing her own life stories. She lived by the golden rule and endeared herself to all who knew her.
Ina is survived by a son, Sean (Norgean) Rodenborn of Parkers Prairie; a brother Larry (Sylivia) McGeechan of Australia; three sisters, Hetty Gibson of Canada; May Gibson of Glasgow, Scotland and Nessie Gibson also of Glasgow and four grandchildren, Rayven Aune, Jacob Aune, Jayme Aune and Richard Rodenborn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Scott Gibson, Jackie McGeechan and Billy Gibson and one sister Margaret McGeechan.
Urn bearer will be Richard Rodenborn.
