Helen M. Bjerketvedt, age 90, of Urbank, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, at St. William's Living Center in Parkers Prairie.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank with Fr. Matthew Crane officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Becky Koep and the church choir. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Sunday at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank with parish prayers at 7 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.

Helen Mary Bjerketvedt was born July 17, 1923, to Ferdinand and Christina (Blashack) Schmidt in Effington Township. She was baptized July 29, 1923 and confirmed May 25, 1933, at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank. She grew up in Effington Township and worked for her Uncle Joe when she was young. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1942. Following her education she worked as a waitress in Fergus Falls. She was united in marriage to Roy K. Bjerketvedt August 18, 1942, at Sacred Heart Church in Urbank. Following their marriage she worked with her husband on the family farm where they raised their eight children. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Christian Mothers for over 50 years, over 50 year member of Catholic Aid and an active member of Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, quilting, baking and visiting with family and friends. Helen had a strong faith and lived it daily by praying the Rosary.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; sons, Robert Bjerketvedt and Roger Bjerketvedt; daughter, Jane Bjerketvedt; sisters, Justine Thoennes and Loretta Ritten; and brothers, Edward Schmidt and Donald Schmidt.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mary (Joseph) Hellerman, Anne (Ronald) Koep, Doris (Gerard) Koep all of Parkers Prairie and Marsia (Greg) Kraemer of Evansville; son, Teddy (Gloria) Bjerketvedt of Parkers Prairie; brother, Gordon (Arlene) Schmidt of Parkers Prairie; brother-in-law, William Bjerketvedt of Battle Lake; sister-in-law, Beverly Bjerketvedt of Henning; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
