Harlan James Livingood was born near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on April 29, 1937, the last of 13 children born to Charles and Esther (Lee) Livingood. He married Patricia Clark in 1957 and they raised two sons. He was a boiler operator and engineer at the Northern States Power plant in Granite Falls for over 30 years. Pat and Harlan built a home on Pocket Lake and enjoyed their retirement in Lowry. They traveled around the United States and began spending winters in Tucson in 1997 golfing and socializing with some of their snowbird siblings and friends.
Harlan was blessed with a mechanical aptitude that helped him fix (or “Harlanize”) just about anything with moving parts. He would happily pitch in if a relative or neighbor needed help with a repair project. He moved near a lake to fish, but he also enjoyed hunting. He lived to make people laugh. Every dog who met him loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Pat; son Brian; grandson Jordan; brothers, Edwin, Lester, Leonard, Curt, Dean, and Dale; and sisters, Gladys, Alice, Myrtle, Vernes and Charlene.
Harlan is survived by son, Codey (Marit); granddaughter Madeline; sister Marlys Brahmer; and sisters-in-law, Elly Livingood and Phyllis Livingood.
