Gladys L. Feigum

Gladys Laverne Feigum was born July 20, 1929, in Starbuck, MN to Clarence and Harriet Benson. She was the eldest of four children. Raised on the farm where she attended school at District 32. Gladys married Norman Feigum on October 31, 1950. Residing first in Starbuck then Moorhead, Minneapolis, and settling in Nelson in 1963. They welcomed three children: Kathleen, Timothy, and Sharon. Gladys enjoyed homemaking including baking bread, gardening, embroidering dish towels for gifting and later she and Norman made children’s furniture together. She always looked forward to Wednesday morning coffee and cookies with friends. As the family grew, thirteen grandchildren were added as well as eight great grandchildren; she loved them all. The last year Gladys lived at Alex Assisted Living where she enjoyed her room, neighbors and activities there.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; and brother, DelRoy.

Survived by sister, Doris; brother, David; daughter, Kathy (Dean) Kemnitz of Brandon; son, Tim (Mary) Feigum of Alexandria; daughter, Shari (Tim) Johnson of Alexandria; along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gladys’ faith in God was most important to her. She passed peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023, surrounded by her children.

A family service was held December 12, 2023, at Nelson Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed.
