Obituary

Eva “Jane” Rose, age 85, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 2, 2026, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Alexandria Covenant Church with Rev. Trinity Opp officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Garfield.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Eva “Jane” (Sanders) Rose was born on December 18, 1940, in Niotaze, Kansas, to Luther and Adaline (Pittman) Sanders. The family moved to Fairmont, Minnesota, when Jane was three years old. She received her education in the Fairmont school system. Jane married Herbert Rose of Welcome, Minnesota, on June 8, 1958. Herb and Jane were blessed with three children, Susan, Karen, and Russell. Jane enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, raising their children. She became a Christian, accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1972. Her faith was a very important part of her life.

She worked in the Welcome school system as a teacher’s aide for two years before moving to Worthington in 1974. In 1976, the family moved to Alexandria, where Herb was a carpentry instructor at Alexandria Technical College for 21 years. Both Herb and Jane were active members of Alexandria Covenant Church, where she had many wonderful friends.

Jane enjoyed planning family get-togethers for her children and grandchildren many times a year, both at home and away. She also enjoyed getting together with friends for Bible study or simply to spend time together. In 1997, following Herb’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises and wintering in Arizona. They also worked for various car dealers and Hertz, transporting cars during their retirement years. In 2018, they moved to Arizona full time, and in 2021, moved back to Alexandria, where they lived at Grand Arbor Retirement Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Ruth, Lola and Mary; brother John; sister-in-law Mona; and brothers-in-law, Richard, Loren, George and Joe.

Jane is survived by her husband and best friend of 68 years, Herb Rose; daughters, Susan Norlien of Farwell and Karen (Kevin) Quast of Independence, Kansas; son, Russell (Susan) Rose of Andover; fifteen grandchildren, Jason (Kacie), Joshua, Matthew (Diamond), Mark, Amy, Angela (Anthony), Timothy (Toni), Daniel (Shaelee), Elizabeth (Tony), Naomi (Patrick), Rachel (Doug), Sarah (Brian), Michael (Lisa), Rebecca, and Heather (Derek); 30 great-grandchildren; sister Helen; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Urnbearers are Jason Norlien, Mark Norlien, Timothy Quast, and Michael Rose.
