Eugene "Gene" Jones

Eugene “Gene” Winston Jones, age 86, of Alexandria, passed peacefully, Saturday, December 10, 2016, in Alexandria.

Funeral services are 11:30 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria with Pastor Ben Jacobson of First Lutheran Church officiating.

Gene was born on January 10,1930, to Evan William and Lulu Lenora (Halvorson) Jones in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. He attended Lake Crystal High School, graduating in 1948. He broke up his college career by serving in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged as a corporal and finished his BA in History from Mankato State in 1955. Gene had a successful career in Industrial pipes, valves and fittings until he retired in 1992. In 1964, Gene married Adeline (Addy) Elaine Johnson. In 1967, they had a baby boy, David Eugene. In 2015, they welcomed Rodney Paul into the family. Gene was a voracious reader, reading numerous papers, periodicals and books daily. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and VFW Post #936 and former member of The Kiwanis Club and Sons of Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice (Jones) Hutchens.

Gene is survived by his wife, Addy of Alexandria; sons, David Paul-Jones and Rodney Paul-Jones of Youngstown, NY and Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews.

The family prefers memorials to Radio Ministries, First Lutheran Church of Alexandria.
