Eugene Marvin Glebe was born on August 21, 1939, to Marvin and Viola (Freudenberg) Glebe in Parkers Prairie. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Gene attended Parkers Prairie Public Schools, where he graduated from high school. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Janet Dreger on February 28, 1959.
Gene worked at Wedum’s Supply in Alexandria for over 20 years. During that time, he pursued his love of farming by establishing his own farm outside of Miltona, all while continuing to work at Wedum’s. Following his retirement from Wedum’s, Gene devoted his time to farming, which included milking cows, raising beef cattle, and baling hay over the years. After retiring from farming, he and Janet began cleaning offices throughout the Alexandria and Osakis areas.
Gene had a lifelong love of farming, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him and were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and great-grandchild Weston.
Gene is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janet; three children, Kevin (Rita) Glebe of Clarissa, Sheryl (Al Niehaus) Glebe of Melrose, and Ryan (Jen) Glebe of Miltona; seven grandchildren, Nick (Melissa), Shannon (Scott), Ken (Ashley), Danielle (Lorne), Brendon (Breanna), Devin (Kailey), and Taylor (Cole); many great-grandchildren; a few great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Virgil (Dee) Glebe, Lowell (Donna) Glebe, and Keith (Donna) Glebe; sister, Gwen (Jeff) Robley; along with many nieces and nephews.
