Ethel H. Grothen, age 93, of rural Parkers Prairie, died on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Autumn Cottages in Alexandria.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday September 2, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, West Miltona with Rev. Terry Finnern presiding. Music will be provided by organist, Katie Jahnke. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
The visitation is 5-7 p.m., on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ethel Hattie was born on May 25, 1931, to Edwin and Elizabeth (Brockopp) Zinter in North Effington Township. She attended country school in North Effington Township. Ethel was united in marriage to Gilbert Grothen on March 31, 1949. Following their marriage, they farmed in North Effington before purchasing a farm near Lake Vermont. Ethel was a life-long farmer and homemaker and a life-member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Gilbert in 2020.
Ethel is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Larry) Andrist of Villa Rica, Georgia and Judy (Dennis) Noetzelman of Parkers Prairie; three sons, Herbert (Jean) Grothen, Donald (Cathy) Grothen, and Jerry (Jenny) Grothen all of Parkers Prairie; 12 grandchildren, Eric (Liberty) Andrist, Cindy (Jeffrey) Upchurch, Shelly Grothen, Melissa (David) Syring, Kristin Canatsey, Kacie (Bryant) Sullivan, Katie (Nate) Bahl, Sandy (Chad) Spindler, Amy (Andy) Mazciewski, Amanda (Eli) Gesell, Aaron (Carley) Noetzelman, and Anthony (Megan) Noetzelman; 34 great-grandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Herbert Grothen, Donald Grothen, Jerry Grothen, Dennis Noetzelman, Aaron Noetzelman, and Anthony Noetzelman. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
