Ethel M. Anderson, age 78, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Jonathan Sorum officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Marcia Guenther and violinist, Anna Guenther. Burial will take place at Parkers Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service.

Ethel Mae Anderson was born July 27, 1932, to Edwin and Pearl (Antonsen) Skoglund in Alexandria, Minnesota. She grew up in rural Parkers Prairie and was baptized and confirmed at Esther Lutheran Church. She attended Country School District #55 before Parkers Prairie Public Schools where she graduated in 1950. She attended business school in the Twin Cities and worked as a secretary at the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Marvin R. Anderson on November 1, 1952, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie. Following their marriage they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she worked with the Porack C.P.A. Firm and the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce from 1980, until her retirement in 1997. She helped her husband in the Greyhound business of raising and training dogs for competition in Florida, Arkansas and Iowa. They lived in Iowa and Colorado before moving to Parkers Prairie in 2005. She was a member of the Sorority Sisters in Security, Colorado. She enjoyed making pottery at the Cragmor Branch of the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.

Ethel is survived by her husband of 58 years, Marvin; two sons, Gary (Anita) Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Bruce (Gina) Anderson of Middleburg, Florida; a daughter, Dionne (Dennis) Stoller of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Irene (Harvey) Peterson of Parkers Prairie, Evelyn (Leonard) Olson of Ortonville and Marian (Duane) Johnson of Sun City West, Arizona; and six grandchildren, Jeremy, Regina, Brian, John, Christy and Daniel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Peterson, Rick Guenther, Arnie Thoennes, Amber Guenther, Clayton Skoglund and Douglas Skoglund.
