Eric Jon Tillmann, age 58, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully at his mother’s home on Friday, June 28, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Douglas County and surrounded by family. He will be greatly missed, that is for sure.
There will be a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Eric was born November 12, 1965, to Chuck and Glory (Raffelson) Tillman in Owatonna, the third of four boys. Growing up on Lake Ida started his passion for fishing. Along with his brothers and father, they had many memorable adventures hunting and fishing Minnesota and Ontario, Canada.
Carpentry was Eric’s chosen trade, and he was a very skilled craftsman, building everything from houses to furniture. In 1996, he moved to La Connor, Washington. While living along the Pacific coast he trucked logs off the surrounding mountains and worked in carpentry.
His true passion was salmon fishing the Skagit River and saltwater near La Connor. Nothing fights like a salmon he would say! Eric had to settle for walleye after moving back to Minnesota, Alexandria in 2023.
Eric and his brother Gregg worked many hours over the years building motorcycles and trucks in Gregg’s shop, specializing in flat-black lowrider hot rods that you would hear coming!
He was preceded in death by his father.
Eric is survived by his mother, Glory; brothers, Scott, Gregg, and Jeff (Bethany); one nephew and two nieces.
