Elroy H. Dittberner, age 98, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at St. William's Living Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Gloria Hollatz. Burial will take place at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Leaf Valley.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Monday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elroy Henry Dittberner was born October 25, 1911, to Hermann and Ida (Brueske) Dittberner in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, Minnesota. He was baptized November 26, 1911, and confirmed May 23, 1926, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley. He attended District #59 Country School. Following his education, he moved to Leonard, North Dakota looking for work and met his future wife. He was united in marriage to Elda Zaeske on October 4, 1937, at St. Peter's Lutheran parsonage in Leonard. Following their marriage he farmed in Leonard before they moved to Leaf Valley in 1939, where he farmed until retiring in 1972. They moved to Alexandria where he worked at Arrowwood Resort before moving to Parkers Prairie in the early 1980's. He was a former member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He served on the Leaf Valley Creamery Board for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered delivering meals for the Parkers Prairie Senior Center. While living at St. Williams, he enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed milking cows, playing cards and horseshoes, hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and will be greatly missed.

Elroy is survived by two sons, James (Sandi) Dittberner and Roger (Pat) Dittberner both of Leaf Valley; a daughter, Joann (Dale) Dropik of Leaf Valley; two sisters-in-law, Betty Dittberner and Donna Dittberner; a brother-in-law, Alvin (Josephine) Zaeske; seven grandchildren, Troy Dittberner (fianc?e, Lori Zmuda), Darcy (Stuart) Wussow, Dean (Julie) Dropik, Shari (George) Hernandez, Trevor (Tonia) Dittberner, Tammy (Kevin) Karger and Tonia (Derek) Schauls; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Carly, Derek, Marcus, D.J., Abigail, Preston, Jayden, Cooper and Nikki, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elda in 1988; two brothers, Erwin and Clair and four sisters, Elda, Lilly, Adeline and Frieda.

Pallbearers will be Troy Dittberner, Dean Dropik, Trevor Dittberner, Stuart Wussow, Kevin Karger and Derek Schauls. Honorary pallbearers will be Arlo Peterson, Harry Riedel and Alan Riedel.
