Elnora C. Beireis, age 84, of Parkers Prairie, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria

Funeral services are 11 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2017, at Esther Lutheran Church in rural Parkers Prairie with Rev. Tom Kolden officiating.  Music is provided by organist, Inez Haase, and vocalist, Karin Wagner. Burial is at the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Sunday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elnora Christine was born October 4, 1932, to Andrew and Eldora (Palm) Hanson at home on the family farm in Rose City.  She was baptized and confirmed at Esther Lutheran Church in Eastern Township.  She attended Douglas County District #51 Country School and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1950.  She attended Augsburg College for one year and then graduated from Bemidji State University.  Following her education, she taught school in New York Mills for a year.  She was united in marriage to Elmer Beireis on June 13, 1954, at Esther Lutheran Church.  Following their marriage, they moved to her family’s farm where she raised her family and farmed alongside her husband for 60 years. The couple moved into Parkers Prairie in 2015, and her husband, Elmer died on April 9, 2016.  Elnora was a lifelong member of Esther Lutheran Church, was active in WELCA, and served as choir director for 35 years.  She enjoyed Church missions, making quilts, cross stitch, and fishing trips and camping with her husband.  Elnora especially enjoyed providing day care for her grandchildren while they were growing up.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant stillborn son.

Elnora is survived by her son, Russ (Dar) Beireis of Miltona; two daughters, Deb (Jeff) Koep of Miltona and Denise (Dan) Kupfer of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Lucas Beireis, Nicholas Kupfer, Joshua Hadley, Zachary Beireis, Rob Stanley and Chad Stueve.  Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Chelsea (Baltimore) Medina, Stephanie Stueve, Jessica (Jacob) Malone, Amy Stanley, Miranda Hadley and Brooke (Shane) Novak.
