Elmer “Jim” Hill, age 91, of Alexandria, formerly of Columbia Heights, died on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Knute Nelson.
A private memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2020, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria. Jim’s service will be live streamed from his obituary page on the funeral home’s website.
Elmer James “Jim” was born on December 21, 1928, to Elmer and Jeanette (Konberg) Hill in Minneapolis. He attended Lyndale Grade School, Bryant Junior High, Minnehaha Academy and graduated from Washburn High School. He served in the U.S. Army. Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Mae VanCamp on July 11, 1951, in Minneapolis. He worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Jehovah Witnesses Congregation. He enjoyed Crypt quips, puzzles, gardening, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; and brother-in-law, Bob Becker.
Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nancy; son, Greg (Elizabeth) Hill of Osakis; daughter, Cynthia Hill-Lopez of Hugo; sister, Marge Becker of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Linda Hill of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
