Eldon Emerald Carlsten was born May 13, 1935, to Eugene Eldon and Florence (Pearson) Carlsten in rural Oakland, Nebraska. He lived in the Lyons, Nebraska area, was baptized as a child and confirmed at Memorial Methodist Church in Lyons. He attended grade school at Jefferson Country School and graduated from Lyons Public School in 1952. Following his education he farmed with his dad. He was united in marriage to Elisabeth A. Ball on September 3, 1954, by Rev. Lloyd W. Mullis at Memorial Methodist Church in Lyons. To this union a son, Emery and a daughter, Carolyn were born. The family lived in the general area of Lyons, except a short while at Pender and Fremont, Nebraska. In 1976, the family moved to Minnesota, residing in Miltona. Ten years later, they moved to Urbank, near beautiful Inspiration Peak. Eldon raised Hereford cattle and spent his time farming and gardening. He loved his family and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and friends. He was a quiet man who enjoyed nature and watching the hand of God. He will be dearly missed.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Elisabeth "Libby"; children, Emery (Dean Baillif) Carlsten of St. Louis Park and Carolyn (Robert) Mortimer of Eagan; two grandchildren, Shawn Mortimer and Beth Mortimer both of Eagan; sister, Cleone (Morris) Kelly of Thurston, Nebraska; brother, Quentin Pearson of Bellevue, Nebraska; and his mother-in-law, Janet Ball of Decatur, Nebraska.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; special cousin, Gene Rooth; father-in-law, Hiram E. Ball; and sister-in-law, Jean Ball.
