Elda Alvina (Johlke) Hollatz, age 92, of Parkers Prairie, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington with Rev. Dane Compton officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Maureen Diedrich and vocalist,Dedra Zwieg. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elda Alvina was born September 22, 1919, to August and Augusta (Bethke) Johlke in Parkers Prairie. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington in 1932, by Rev. J.A. Schamber. Elda attended school at District 235, in North Effington Township and in Egeland, North Dakota. She was united in marriage to Paul Hollatz on November 17, 1938, at Zion Lutheran Church, North Effington. Following their marriage, they farmed with Paul's parents in North Effington Township. In 1944, Elda and Paul purchased a farm in West Miltona Township, where they farmed until 1955. The couple then moved to rural Henning where they continued to farm and raise their six children for the next 25 years. They were active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henning. Elda was part of the Christian Women's Club in Henning where she thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with them. Elda was a housewife and mother and it brought her great joy to bake and cook for her family. Elda and Paul retired from farming and moved to Parkers Prairie in 1980. Since 2006, Elda has resided at St. William's Living Center where she fully enjoyed the activities and good care she received while living there. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Elda enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and spending time with her family.

Elda is survived by five children, Vernon (Frieda) Hollatz of Henning, Jerry (Donna Reese) Hollatz of Carlos, Bonnie (Bill) Brunson of Parkers Prairie, Eugene (Vicki) Hollatz of Henning and Barbara (David) Nelson of Clitherall; daughter-in-law, Gloria Hollatz; sister, Christine Handrahan of Austin, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 2007; son, Merlin in 2010; sister, Ethel Karger and brothers, Victor Johlke and Howard Johlke.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Myron Hollatz, Michael Hollatz and Joseph Hollatz, and great-grandsons, Tanner, Hollatz, Tyler Hollatz, Aaron Blowers and Zach Hoeft.
