Edward F. McGinn, age 95, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Knute-Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie with Fr. Herb Gappa and Fr. William K. Gamber officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery in Belle River.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Edward Felix McGinn was born January 23, 1916, to Edward E. and Elizabeth (Mussman) McGinn in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the catholic faith. He graduated from Mound High School in 1935. Following his education he served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge. He attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis where he studied to be an electrician. He was united in marriage to Janice Bauermeister March 23, 1946, in Minneapolis. Following their marriage they lived in St. Cloud and Alexandria. Ed worked as a communication electrician with Great Northern Railroad for 42 years until retiring in 1977. Following his retirement he and his wife moved to their home near Lake Irene in Parkers Prairie. His wife, Janice died August 6, 2005. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Parkers Prairie and a former member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
Edward is survived by two sons, John McGinn of Parkers Prairie and Mike (Kathy) McGinn of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Jacob (Theresa Theis) McGinn and Rachel McGinn; two great-grandchildren, Colie and Seth; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice in 2005; two brothers, Errol and Robert; and three sisters, Geraldine, Babe and May.
Pallbearers will be Rachel McGinn, Jake McGinn, Steve Solum, Brian Solum, Dennis Hultstrand and Kenneth Pfeffer.
