Duane H. Hagedorn, age 73, of Alexandria, died Sunday, December 07, 2014, at Knute Nelson Memorial Home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services are 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Millerville with Fr. Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Music is provided by Heavenly Harmony.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Duane Herman Hagedorn was born August 19, 1941, to Ferd and Adeline (Buse) Hagedorn in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed into the catholic faith. He attended Alexandria Public Schools and graduated in 1959. Following his education, he worked for Twin Cities Soil Testing in St. Paul. Duane was united in marriage to Judith Reynolds, August 12, 1988, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Webster where Duane became a father and incredible blessing to Judy's daughters, Rebecca and Cindi. He worked as store manager of the Prior Lake Holiday Station Store for 32 years and retired in 2006. Following retirement, Duane and his wife, Judy returned to Alexandria where they made their home and enjoyed gardening and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Devon.

Duane is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy; daughters, Rebecca (Reedy) Martin of Big Lake and Cindi (James) Matson of Cannon Falls; brother, Ray (Carol) Hagedorn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Judith (Timothy) Wasilkus of New Brighton; five grandchildren, Teagan Ray Gilligan, Bailey Jo Gilligan, Reed Duane Charles Martin, Carter Matson and William Matson; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorary urnbearers are his grandchildren, Teagan Gilligan and Reed Martin.

Duane's family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Knute Nelson Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
